till death do us part...

till death do us part...

A Poem by Marie Baskerville
"

till death do us part.. one of my more morbid pieces

"

White lace sweeps over her porcelain skin

Hugging her curves

Falling to the soft carpet beneath her feet.

Folds of fabric shimmer

Shock overtaking her expression

As she assesses the girl in the mirror.

Only 19,

She is surely too young.

An exchange of vows only moments away,

The end of life as she knows it.

Her auburn curls bounce as she sobs,

Tears streak the mask of perfection previously applied.

Her cries can be heard but nobody questions her,

Is this a usual occurrence here?

The hotel was chosen by her mother,

As she observed silently in the background.

Ignored, unsure, invisible.

Her heart was telling her to run, her head too scared to reply.

She is trapped.

Till death do us part.
