JealousyA Poem by Marie BaskervilleAnother part of my anthology...As she
stands waiting, in the centre of the crowded room, she
analyses every other person, carefully, discreetly. Their
glittering ball gowns. Their
delicate features. Their
graceful sophisticated silhouettes. She
catches her own tearful expression in a nearby mirror. Glistening
beads run down her cheeks, like
raindrops running down the smooth surface of a glass window. Her own
emerald green dress hugs her curves appreciatively. Like a
snake she weaves her way through the elegant ballroom, wishing. Wishing
she could dance like her, or sing
like her. Wishing
she was as tall and graceful as her, or
wishing she had him. Her
desires and beliefs are what drive her resentment. Resentment towards everyone, for she feels no love or admiration. For love is kind, love is patient. Envy however is not. © 2012 Marie BaskervilleReviews
