GluttonyA Poem by Marie BaskervilleA part of my seven deadly sins anthology...Her
curves, as
smooth as the picturesque hills we envision in landscapes. Her
cheeks, like
peaches. Her skin
as smooth as cream. She
craves more than she needs. She
consumes more than she requires, in order
for her desire to be fulfilled. Over the
years, this has grown to be no more than a bad habit. A habit
she cannot seem to stop. She
needs to over indulge in order
to stop the withdrawal symptoms. She
knows she consumes the forbidden. She
needs faith, temperance. Like the
pig, she continues this scale of consumption. She is
frequently told, “Eat to
live, Do not live to eat” And
still gluttony is her crime. © 2012 Marie Baskerville |
