the color of hungerA Poem by mikayla baldwina hue of desperationthe color of hunger, a hue of desperation hunger is grey as she draws hearts and initial on her assignments hoping and praying one day he'll begin to notice her hunger is brown the only thing she had today was a cup of coffee and a cigarette hunger is yellow it's the stars she sees when her headaches are too much to bear she tells herself "it'll be worth it" hunger is a dark blue it's the rivers that run vividly along her body today because she has to fit in that dress tomorrow how else would she be beautiful hunger is pale when the rivers cant flow anymore because they've created a huge puddle on her bathroom floor hunger is clear it's the tears that roll down her mother's face at the graveyard wondering where she went wrong hunger is black evil, it can follow someone around all day no matter how you squint you wouldn't see that hunger is just a shadow, constantly eating at me.
