An opportunity

An opportunity

A Poem by Kaylee

Life is an empty room
We are confined to four walls
We must splatter paint, build a structure
And continue sculpting until we fulfill our desires
But wait, suddenly, a door opens
At first glance we merely see an open door, an opportunity
Then we notice a cobweb in the corner
Eager to entangle us in confusion, discomfort
Do we walk through the door?
Take the chance?
Leave who we are behind to become who we wish to be?
Our minds will whisper “No.”
But we must summon the fire in our hearts
And let it burn away any sign of weakness we have
Then we must stride through the door with confidence, hope
When the light of the room fades and we are surrounded in darkness
We must allow our hearts to be like northern stars in a midnight sky
Guiding us to tomorrows of chaos, tomorrows of bliss
