i just found this in a notebook, I think I wrote it my freshman year
As I sit high in the trees
I envy stars on nights like these.
On cloudless nights with summer breeze
The stars can watch the peaceful seas.
If only I could see with ease
Such beautiful and peaceful seas,
But even if I could see these
I couldn't bear to pay such fees.
For only are there nights as these
When kingdoms have forgiven seize
When peace can float along the breeze
And war still starts with perfect ease.
Too many people on their knees,
Unable to pay endless fees
Forced to suffer penalties
So many beg for death of ease.
So too must stars watch nights like these,
Of war and hate and death and siege
where screams are carried with the breeze
And out of fear they’re on their knees.
And as I watch from in the trees
I pity stars on nights like these
On cloudless nights with scream filled breeze
The stars must watch the war filled seas.
Stanza 2 Line 2--"See?" such beautiful and peaceful seas
Stanza 3 Line 1--For only aware "there're" nights as these
Stanza 6 Line 4--The stars must watch the war "filled" seas.
This is a wonderful poem and I am adding it to my library! This review is short, but the poem is so, very good that I just can't find the words, at the moment, to describe how superb it is!!
