Dead

Dead

A Poem by TheKaylaPup

Dead,
Lost to hate,
Lost to rejection,
Lost to love,
Or lack thereof.

Dead,
By his own hand,
Or her own hand,
Suicide to him the answer,
Suicide to her escape.

Dead,
No more drug use,
No more bad grades,
No more problems,
Mom are you proud now?

Dead,
No more good things,
No more sunny days,
No more love to share,
Died thinking no one cares.

Dead,
There's people crying,
People mourning.
More kids dying,
Following in his or her last footsteps.

Dead,
Another life gone,
Another kid silenced,
Lost to us,
Lost forever,

Dead,
Lost to hate,
Lost to rejection,
Lost to love,
Or lack thereof.

This is beautifully written. It's simple, yet the emotion is there and strong. I like the way you first talk about 1 person and then extend it to almost a generation. It gives strength, at least that's what touched me.

This is a good poem. It's hard to write poetry about adolescent depression/suicide without sounding cliche, but you managed. I love the ending lines, "Lost to love, or lack thereof." Good manipulation of words.

This was so sad. I can seriously see this being a song though. You wrote this very well! Great poem! :)

Apparently the character is very "Dead". I liked it.
