Roses and Thorns
Every rose has its thorns.
But, through darkened days and tear filled nights.
One learns to look at life in a new light.
All the sorrows of death and the sadness of life,
Bring people together under war tattered skies.
Through the worst of the worst you can surely find hope,
That tomorrow will bring with it reasons for joy.
If in all the world there wasn’t sorrow,
And never was there pain,
Then no one would know joy for lack of a comparison.
And I’ve come to learn that every negative feeling brings with it new joys.
For courage comes from fear,
Tolerance from anger and annoyance,
Comfort from sadness,
Healing from pain,
Understanding from confusion,
Discovery from the unknown,
New strength from weakness,
And hope from desperation.
And I’ve come to know that the worse things get, the better everything else seems.
And through sorrow I’ve learned that good comes from bad things,
And through bad things, comes hope.
Some people say every rose has its thorns,
Which may very well be true,
But they forget that Thorns have Roses too.
