Faith (Loss of)A Poem by kaylahardy120We're on the poetry unit in my creative writing class, and I remembered how much I enjoyed writing poetry, so here's an attempt.
Faith can live inside us,
or it can be hung on a wall. A wooden cross with a distorted metal figure. I feel its energy whenever I enter the room, and My mom bows her head each time she passes. I avoid the metal man, my eyes averted. She gives it to me; a going away gift. I keep it in a box, down in my basement. I feel no emptiness, I'm still alive. The cross will not hang on my walls tonight.
