Fairy TaleA Poem by KaylaMy small fingers trail along The gritty stone barrier As I sing a melancholy song Of star-crossed lovers. It's the song you wrote Before you solemnly stood Outside the walls and moat And sang words of passion. I don't mean to hide Behind these walls; But there are rules we must abide In not breaking them down. They keep me safe from Scary things like Dragons from the slums Of our menacing home. These things can burn Down my pretty castle, And quickly turn Me to ashes; But they also keep Me from you-- A steep Price to pay for protection.
Were my hair long enough, Were it equally thick, And strong and tough, I'd make a sturdy braid For you to climb; But I don't have the patience, Nor the time To spare.
Maybe you shall find a way All on your own. Find a way to stay, If you please. Knock down these stones. Protect me yourself. Make me your home. Storm these walls. I'm waiting. © 2012 Kayla |
