Backyard Dozing

Backyard Dozing

A Poem by Mikayla Love

I lay in the grass,

The soft green sea engulfing me

And I drowsed off fast.

The doubts of the day

Were buried away and my

Burdens slowly passed.

Then when I awoke,

I rubbed my eyes and spoke of

Being lost at sea.

For, my love, that’s how

I felt when you weren’t with me.

Memories from my slumber,

My words began to redeem.

For in my sleep,

The things that I had wondered

Were breaking at the seams.

And that morning,

I broke the spell that I had been under.

and I discovered my heart’s dream.
