MomA Poem by kayla<3A poem I wrote when I had to decide which parent to live with during their divorce.I pull the rug out, right from underneath your eager feet. You fall, collapse, my heart skips a beat. Shock burns in your eyes, chocolate eyes, swimming in anguish, burning red because of me. You regress to the past, a horror movie cutting through your innoceant mind, slicing through the love, doubt, fear, in its wake. I am so sorry, please understand that this is for the best! But your shaking, heaving sobs rumbling through a birthmarked chest. I hope you can forgive me, all my sins; I hope you will understand, but for now you can't. Dark braids shaking like a rattler in the dirt, strike the daughter who dared to break away from her home. But I still see those chocolate eyes, burning red because of me, choking on all she's done. I have betrayed her. I reach out to the chocolate eyes, that birthmarked chest, my rattler in the dirt, as she grabs her purse, and walks away. © 2012 kayla<3Author's Note
