Mother’s Farewell Song

This poem is about how the bird mom teaches her young ones to fly

Is a bird mother happy when her babies learn to fly?

Does she like her babies go away from her home?

Her home too was built for her loving kids where

She tended them and fed them with love and care.

 

Bird mom feels very sorry to sing a farewell song

To her kids when they are eager to fly from home

She hides her tears behind her smile

As she wants her kids to “go” and “grow”.

 

Bird mom is happy when her babies

Grow wings and feathers

She strengthens her heart that one day

They will leave her to venture into the sky

 

Bird mother is happy when her kids learn to

Fly away from her home one by one.

She jumps with joy along with her kids

As they leave shedding Tears of Joy.

 

Bird mother too has tended her kids but

Without attachment with same love and care

Her love is unique and unconditional

As she expects nothing from her kids except “Love”.

 

Oh man why you are feeling sorry when your children

Leave your home in pursuit of job or education

Feel happy to send them away from home

To fix their roots and grow into a vast tree.

 

Oh man love your kids with detachment

Be like the bird mother and learn from her to

Give freedom for your children as they grow

And expect only love from your kids.

 

Oh man do not weep as your kids go away from you

Learn from the bird mom that loving is

Giving freedom and strengthen your heart to

Sing a beautiful farewell song as they leave you.
