Ember Love/Hate

Ember Love/Hate

A Poem by Karen James
"

A freeverse poem looking at the conflicts of love.

"
It burns like coals
Spluttering and popping
In a fireplace,

It roars as it sucks
In oxygen.
If I were to touch it
It would blister and scar
Me, this thing called love.

Hate filled flames
Entwine themselves together.
Invisible heat washes over me.

An illogical heart tells me to love.
A head filled with memories tells me to hate.
Two opposing forces collide,
Fighting for my mind.
Tearing apart my heart.

I stand alone
And watch the fire
Burn its self out.

This is a very beautiful poem and it does perfectly describe how i know i felt about my relationship after he had left me, it was unbearable to have but something i didn't want to life without. I like it very much.

There have been many times I've felt this way.
I tend to have a love-hate relationship with everything, I fear.
Though here, I can clearly say: I don't hate this. ^_~
