Stormy Night

Stormy Night

A Poem by K

There’s a storm coming to Georgia
A hurricane named after you
Been grappling with everything Holy
To come to terms with you leaving
But now She’s heading straight toward me
Gonna wrap me in Her arms
Guess I should get ready
To see you again
(I’ve missed you)

I always wonder what it would be like to have a hurricane with your name or with the name of someone you know personally. I can imagine that there's a certain amount of dissonance that comes with that especially in a case like this. In a lot of ways, tornados are easier because we don't name them. Maybe we should resort to just giving them letters and not even bothering with names, then we wouldn't have to skip letters either. That was somewhat unrelated, I just started thinking about that all of sudden but I'll get back on track now.
This was a conflictingly emotional read. You could feel that the writer had just started to reach a point of maybe being ok and isn't it just like life to spring a reminder like this on them. A hurricane will definitely "wrap you in it's arms" so to speak, just be careful.
