A Chance

A Chance

A Poem by kayamon215

I can't believe to get rich and famous
people would sell there soul
forgetting that your life's worth much more than gold
I been poor for a long time
but i'd never sell myself to satan
but i'm hoping to make it soon cuz i'm getting tired of the waiting
about to lose my apartment
and I quit my s****y job too
wondering when Jah's plan for me is finally gonna come through
I know success take time, dedication and motivation
but I wanna see a pay off for how long I been patient
from being homeless and addiction
yeah i've been around
some things that i've seen is quite profound
sometimes I had to commit crimes just to make it through
but don't judge me you'd do the same if it were you
a chance is all I need
then i'll prove everyone wrong

Looking forward to the finish. I loved how hope pervaded this poem despite the speaker's struggles with poverty and the projects. There truly are very few opportunities for the poor in today's society. It gets frustrating putting forth effort and working hard only to have zero payoff
