Legacy

Legacy

A Poem by kayama
"

everyone wants to leave a legacy. only one person can be legacy.

"

What would you give,

To change the life you live

To stop conforming

And start transforming

Into somthing truly strong

Somthing that will prolong

Untill the day may see

That you are a Legacy.

Time ticks for the day

That you will stand and say

"I will be a Legacy"

I yearn to be a legacy. I think it's part of the human condition that people desire to leave their mark on this world. We are fortunate in that we are writers- artists. We have a means by which to leave our mark on this world. However, not everyone can be so lucky. The world seems to demand conformity to be successful - at least successful by the common idea of success. It's sad, but true. I enjoy that your poem celebrates the idea of individuality and affirms the idea that it is not only okay, but preferable, to be unique. Your language is simple, yet powerful. The message couldn't be more clear. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Dear Kayama,

I must say I am blowen away by this poem. It is so small yet has a big meaning. We all want to leave something behind when we go. But we don't need to conform to the world today.

One of your early reviewers left these questions for reviwers in the future. We travel down this road of life, seeing many signs... Yet, when one approaches a detour sign How many 'options ' does one see? What are they?

Sometimes we go down a road that is not always the best choice. We make a mistake and don't realize that the choice was the wrong one until after the fact. But we have a choice to chose which road we travle on. If you have options way the pros and cons of each one that can be travled opon.

I have had some choices that I have chosen that I wish I would have taken back in my life time. I was following the people around me and confroming myself to what they wanted and not what I wanted. This speaks volumes of words to the way our world works. This was great write and a joy to read. Keep up the good work. I will be looking for more writing from you in te near futrue.

By the way you have the word Somthing spelled wrong.

Have a nice day!

Humbly,

I love it. It strikes me, your words. Exquisite.

You have a few spelling mistakes though... I almost didn't notice it though so that must mean your poem was really great since my eyes usually automatically scan for them in everything I read.

Your work is lovely. Keep it up.

Isn't it strange and isn't it thrilling when you read something a complete stranger has written from their soul and you FEEL every word and you FEEL the person has been insideto know the you that others don't?
Enriching. ;0)

I guess that would depend on what one considers a "legacy." Are legacies always strong? As a example ask yourself: was Andy Warhol strong? Was a he legecy? How about Edgar Allen Poe? I know of quite a few characters that consider themselves to be that of a of legacy, which is great for them, I just dont happen to agree. On the other hand, I know of a select, humble few, who, (in my eyes), are building themselves quite a legacy, yet ironocally, if you asked them, they wouldn't agree. Recently I watched an interesting show about the "legacy" of Harry Houdini. The shows final segment pointed out that as Mr. Houdini was on his death bed a doctor arrived to examine him and was praising the illusionist about his illustrious carreer; as this went on Harry interupted the the man and said "Sir, why are you praising me? My entire carreer has been a series of fakes. You, and others like yourself, are the ones making a relevent difference." This both illustrates his humility and his down to earth view on what a "legacy" actually is.

Dear Kayama,

This poem has many realizations within itself. Speaking for myself, in the past I have conformed to what society and certain individuals have chosen for me.

The last few years, I have come to the understanding of becoming who I am for no-other-reason except for the chance to be there for others and transform their lives through the experiences I have encountered and mistakes I have learned from. Your poem has brought this truth to the epicenter of it all.

I do hope that others see the simplicity and truth in this write. You are absolutely right We cannot leave a legacy until we are ready to stand up for ourselves and pledge we will leave one. Respecting the stature and effect of Legacy is exceptional in its own right WE need to understand on how this Legacy will power individual lives not just own. This is the true meaning of Legacy in my life.

Once again, I thank you for this 'work of justice'. I hope to feel your words more in the future.

I love every single word in this poem.

It travels through my blood and reaches every part of me with a feeling of reasurance for my life.

It seems so simple, but yet it is complete complex with deep and meaningful ideas.

I love it.

Legacies - intriguing.

Indeed, we all yearn to somehow leave our 'mark' on society - this world, yet most of us somehow don't realize that leaving that 'mark' and leaving a 'legacy' are completely different. We must positively act - and implement - and prove to ourselves that it is possible to achieve this difference.

I believe, you have stated so much in very few powerful lines... Fulfilling a Legacy is one of the most difficult, yet most rewarding, for futures to come.

Stop conforming - smiles* beautiful
Start transforming - powerful

Changing the life we live - well said
Time ticking away until the day - hum~ indeed (we must hurry and stand for what we believe will make a difference in this world).

Thank you for such a heartfelt read, I intend to share this poem with many of my friends. SO into my favorites you go.

Good Morning, Kayama

Please allow me to start out in saying that I am speechless.

What an honor you have bestowed upon me. Indeed a very inspirational message for all of us.

I feel within every write - whether it be poem, written word, story, proverb, etc. the reader should be allowed to walk away with 'something of an understanding' to further their growth, in this thing we call 'life'. You have accomplished this by questioning, challenging, bringing to life, what we all need 'nourishment'.

Food-for-thought even though this may be buried deep within some of us ("yearning to be a Legacy / leaving a Legacy.") For some reason, our paths in life seem to dictate (along with society) what we can and cannot accomplish

Calling a kettle black -when we 'step out' - leaving the nest, this world begins bombarding us, at-the-same-time society starts conforming us (leaving no-choice but to sustain.) We then become programmed 'lose that inner child' so filled with aspirations

For the ones who read this beautiful write and are kind-enough to leave a review (If they are like me, looking for 'truth' in the reviews which were already left) I challenge them with this question:

We travel down this road of life, seeing many signs... Yet, when one approaches a detour sign How many 'options ' does one see? What are they?

Thank you again for such an honor.

Have a wonderful day

We all leave a legacy, in one way or another, from the lowliest hobo, the Kings and Queens....everyone has a legacy...it's what we do to those legaies that dictates what goes down in history.
I found this to be a wonderful write, and it caused me to think too, what do I want my legacy to be...What would I change in my life, make amends for...
Bravo on a great piece of writing.
