Candlelight

Candlelight

A Poem by Kay J.

I had never felt fire before
I dreamt of what it could be
To know what it means to feel sparks

As a little girl,
Society teaches us about these flames
We are a clean wick of a white candle
Waiting for the right prince to come along with a box of matches

Yet we are told to make sure the right one lights us
Who would buy a half melted candle?
It made me feel more scared than comforted
They always told us about this flame,
But they never mentioned how bad it feels to get burned

I still have trouble with grammar when it comes to poetry, so don't be afraid to correct any. The help is appreciated.

Also, I love to read feedback!

Love how you blended your theme with candles, especially at the end. Great poem! :)

thank you!
Great poem! Your grammar was fine but I think it was a bit wordy....i.e too much of a prose style as opposed to poetry....try to squeeze three ideas into ten words.....:)
