-Chapter 8-

A Chapter by Alya Usman

Tran was now running. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead as he sped through the open fields.

He stopped to take a breath.

“Where could she be?” He asked himself, aloud.

“She’s back. Back where she belongs; where she should be.” The voice inside Tran nagged him. “She is… probably… dead.”

“I can’t believe Muri let her go just like that.”

“The girl is persistent.”

“Tch. To think a girl who’s a meager… a meager robot… could have such a powerful personality!”

“… A robot?” A voice behind him said. The voice was shaking, and scared.

Tran spun at the very moment and found Sayii standing there. “Uh... uh… no way…”

Her hands were cupping her mouth, her eyes were wide open with fear, her legs shaking, her cold body shivering. “So those images… they weren’t just hallucinations… they were… they were… real…”

“I…images…?”

“She must’ve seen something that belonged to her past. Her real past.”

“I can’t believe you… you… What did you do?!” Tears sprang from her eyes as she shouted. “Who am I?! I demand an answer!”

Tran sighed and slowly proceeded towards her.

“You’re-“

He reached her, gazed up at the moon, and pulled her towards himself, pressing her tightly; his face still earnest. “Sayii. No one else.”

“But then…” Her flowing tears did not cease. She shut her eyes tightly. “Why am I feeling this way?! Why did you say that I am a robot? Why?!”

Tran kept quiet, looking up at the moon.

What are you going to do with her now?”

Silence.

“I suggest you dig your sins, and just kill her. You know exactly what I mean. Bringing her back is your greatest sin. Kill her now.”

Tran clenched his fists.

“Kill her now! Because of her… Muri is…”

Tran ground his teeth together.

In a flash he slipped his revolver and dug it in Sayii’s back. Sayii’s eyes shot open. Her body went cold and her lips shaking. “What the…” She tried to break free from his ‘hug’. “Tran…”

“I’m sorry… I don’t have the rose anymore… and besides… this is only a tale of two…And you’re not part of it.”
