Spring (ACT 1 - Scene 8)

A Screenplay by Alya Usman

Scene 8

A small headquarters. Eclipse Dawn is sitting cross-legged on her throne.

ECLIPSE: (sipping in her tea) So… it seems the boy has left… Out of fear, is it?

LILAC: (Off) Fear, it is, Empress Eclipse.

ECLIPSE: Tell me, Lilac, where is Excel headed?

LILAC: Earth. That’s the farthest planet from here.

ECLIPSE: That little planet? Where aggression and war erupts?

LILAC: (Off) Yes, ma’am.

ECLIPSE: (Chuckles dryly) Not a very good place to escape to.

LILAC: (Off) Should we follow him?

ECLIPSE: No… let’s see what happens to him.

LILAC: (Off) As you wish, ma’am. As you wish…

          We here footsteps leaving.

ECLIPSE: (Sips in some more tea) I wonder how he’s doing right now. Could he have actually thought that Earth would provide him a place to escape? Heh! How low minds can think!

          She moves towards the audience.

Blue light is shone on her.

Timid he is. As he is not aware of the day when I shall shadow the Earth. That day, I shall shadow his heart. That day three powers will meet in a straight line, with the weakest of the three, curtained by darkness. I will be waiting for that day… The day of the solar eclipse!

          Curtains fall.

Nice read. But you posted it after such a long time, I've kinda forgotten what was going on in the play. However, no regrets, I'll scroll through 'em again. :)
I'm glad there's another playwright in town (school to be more precise) ;)
