Of Nations and Men...

Of Nations and Men...

A Poem by Kaustubh Pandey
"

The poem condemns the human tendency of revenge, greed which have evolved out of demarcation of borders and religions.

"
Standing before us is a breed that trusts the eyes
And sorely lacks the deeper heights
Resides on a sphere where no one is one's own
Brace up,buckle up or remain grounded and alone

Greed, selfishness of course do add to the woes
Of dilenations of creed, religion and color
This is nothing but a a catastrophe, as far as the story goes
The lands are decimated by war wagers and brawlers

Who have their own reasons to showcase sheer Gore
While others, obsessed by transparency of when
And where fraternals took birth and laid shore
And got ostracized and were slaughtered by then

What a world it'd have been when
There'd been no borders between nations and Men...

Words seem to assume the form of mere words
But barring borders are the chirping, joyous birds
Which cross territories every time they take flight
Contrary to wars induced by humans and our pitiful plight

Times come and go for our consoling words
We've heard a million of them before
But these words are nothing but cheap
And true lies are too big to take

And words which are substantial enough, fade
The pangs of demarcation engulf them
While stars, that's all they are, left witnessing these raids
Which seem never ending, endless and impossible to stem

What a world it'd have been when
There'd been no borders between nations and Men...

Revenge and vengeance have become more than vital words
Words which are brutal enough to instill fear
In a cruel place, where a cry of help, despair is hardly heard
And heed is paid to cries which carry joy and hope in an equal share

Loathsome acts of blacks against whites never cease to exist
What remain are echoes, which once sounded high and loud
But have now died down in a deep, ambushed abyss
In which are battles from which men never pull out

Look deeper past the eyes, nose and ears we all have
To find red blood flowing, for which we all starve
Because no matter what we breed
We still are made of jealousy and greed

What a world it'd have been when
There'd been no borders between nations and Men...
