HarvestA Poem by Katy DaixonAfter "Prepare" by Danielle Grace Warren
The man nooses her neck,
sprays her hide with his watering hose-- her dark-slick skin reflecting the white--the morgue--of the garage and deflecting droplets onto his arms. With his blade-point he slices from genitals to throat-- her back sturdy in the other man's hands and like a hound of Artemis, he rips open her rib cage-- with the crack of an electrocuted tree limb-- tears out the dark entrails then rinses his hands in a tub of clear water-- her blood, so wild. © 2011 Katy Daixon |
