This Planet

This Planet

A Poem by Kat

Within this space of light can be seen no thing of worth

A minor spot of vacant sight is blended on a harried earth

I turn and wail, I view such ill, condemned beneath a sunset hue

Unrested and unloved still, my cancelled whim now snapped in two

Foreboding fist of righteous might, destroyer of more worthy slain

Repent aloud, in fearless fright, deal reason for this earth we maim

This charnel house of poisoned flow for those enscaled to feast upon

I curse aloud, my fiercest blow, to witness such blatant human wrong

Change heart and fight, begin to see what fearful harm we here do cause

And set abroad to show to me, a light to shed, that man might pause

Refute belief in heaven's regard, no thing left here the stars might light

Repent the man with sharpened sword, within his own destructive might

I love this earth and all it holds, my place of birth, my sanctuary

But as its future now unfolds, I fear it will die painfully

Oh, see it soon, please look with me, its death could still be duly halted

For only then can we all see, how this fair earth should be exalted
