"

a woman scorned

"
He felt her presence in the dark room though she made neither move nor sound. He bolted the door after it clicked closed. Smiling, he walked through the inky black towards the bed where he sensed she was waiting.
"Don't move," she ordered. He paused when he heard a nearly indiscernible click. "There is a very poisonous dart pointed at your throat right now."
Knowing that her eyes had already adjusted to the dark, he smiled at her. He held his arms out to his sides, away from his weapons, then continued to walk towards her. Click. He dodged the dart and caught a small knife he'd heard whizzing towards him between his thumb and forefinger. Loosening his hold, he deftly flipped the knife around and sent it flying back at her, successfully deflecting another knife that had been zinging towards him. Only two feet between them, he pulled out his dagger when he heard her draw hers. She jabbed at him and he dodged easily. His eyes had become accustomed to the darkness but even without that particular sense, he could have maneuvered effortlessly in the dark due to a heightened sense of hearing beyond that of any human being. She drew her sword, dagger in her left hand now, she sliced downwards. As he parried with his dagger, she brought the dagger point underneath his jaw. He let her. Smiling at her, he dropped his own weapon.
        "Deja vu..." he murmured.
"Where is the Red Mage?" she demanded, pressing her dagger upward.
"I said I would lead you to him. I do not recall any mention of telling you where he is. That would not correspond with my plans."
        "Your plans have changed."
        "Indeed they have..."
With incomprehensible speed, he grabbed her wrists and pulled her arms out wide, jerking her body against his. When he had set out to find the girl rumored to be impervious to Red Magik, he never would have imagined this attraction that sizzled between them. Awareness flared in her eyes but when he bent his head towards hers, she jerked back forcefully, trying to twist free of his grasp. Instead of continuing that clearly pointless struggle, she used his grip on her wrists as leverage to vault into a back flip over his head. He was forced to release her wrists, but only long enough to reverse his grip and follow her into the flip. Her feet touched the ground but due to his not actually freeing her wrists, her body was forced onto the floor also. He landed neatly, his feet barely meeting the hardwood floor before dropping to his knees, straddling her, all the while chanting a spell under his breath. He had her arms pinned over her head. She tried to bring her dagger upwards when he surprisingly let go of her wrists, but found that her limbs were bound to the scarred hardwood floor. Glancing quickly at her wrists, she saw that a glowing black band held her to the ground. He felt as she stilled beneath him, knowing that any attempts to free herself would be futile. He lowered his mouth to her right ear, his hands braced on either side of her.
        "You are... exquisite..."
Her shiver as his breath touched her warm skin sent his heart tripping even faster. She jerked her face to the left, creating as much space between their faces as possible. He settled his body against hers, nonplussed. He could feel her own traitorous body humming in excitement. He felt his human body harden with her quickening heartbeat. When his tongue touched her neck, her body reacted instinctively, lifting in an effort to become closer to him. She tasted, unexpectedly, of innocence. He did not notice as she pulled her arm in slightly so she could remove a pin from her arm band with her mouth. He reveled in her scent as she carefully stuck the pin's tip back into the leather arm band, easily accessible.
"What do you want?" In lieu of responding, he placed a cool, open-mouthed kiss on her exposed neck. Her sharp intake of breath was released with a mumbled and annoyed "What are you doing?"
Despite her tone, he knew she was affected; her pulse was racing underneath the delicate skin he couldn't bring himself to stop tasting. Even as she moaned in pleasure, she put the pin back into her mouth and, using her tongue, positioned it against the small indentation between her two front teeth.
Taking a deep breath, she turned her head, forcing him to lift his, and faced him. He failed to lift his head high enough and promptly had a pin sticking out of his forehead. To her utter astonishment, he sprang up. The window shattered, sending a spray of glass towards them; a blinding light suddenly filled the room and he felt his spell break, sending Shariah flying onto the bed. A very angry Black mage came in through the window and stalked towards him, fury in her violet eyes, her black hair streaked with an angry red. He poofed into a cloud of smoke, much like Shariah's feline guardian is prone to do when threatened. He would be hard pressed to explain this away later.

The girl let out a frustrated screech then whirled to face an already armed and defensively positioned Shariah. As if seeing Shariah for the first time, the girl visibly started, eyes widening. All of the girl's prior rage seemed to completely dissipate and Shariah was met with a cool, yet curious look. The girl gestured to herself.
        "Malaya."
Shariah cocked her head to the side as she noted the streaks in the girl's hair were now of the sky's most agreeable blue. Having not received any response, the girl shrugged and walked out the door, the light blue hair shimmering in a waist-length mass of billowing black.
