When savannah sings her gifted words
The heavens are watching her, listening
Because her precious wings stopped working long ago
When her eyes and heart stopped glistening.
Her family took a trip to the end of time
Leaving her in the dark alone to sing all along
wanting to pull the feathers out of her little wings
but she keeps on singing her favorite song.
Beautiful savannah with her thrashing pain
singing to nobody but meaning every word
She keeps her beak up no matter how sad
Because life isn't easy for a wounded bird.
To travel south for the winter time
Will never be the same ever again
She doesn't feel the need to make new friends
She feels it's just too close to the end.
And her lonely words she sings so loud
Just wishing an answer would come from the other side
But she knows it is just her left to sing
Just her to dwell in her own feelings, no one to confide.
She speaks the words of lightness and beauty
Taking her words from a chick to a more callow
Singing to the ones that will never beable to hear her
My beautiful little Savannah sparrow.
Oh little Savannah so damaged, so sick
Trying to make it through the wreckless blizzard
Singing a song so beautiful and hard to miss
Building up the spirit in this sad, wounded bird.
