About Today

You and your broken lips; let me smile for you,
and when you sleep, I’ll keep the kisses I saved for you
inside the pocket on my right breast

You can buy me back, you know;
I sell for pennies and marbles,
memories and dreams—
Still, I keep that crooked grin of yours
close, inside
gripping hands

Won’t you say I’m not cheap! Why, I
only ask for the brown in your eyes, for the
fingertips from inside those clenched palms

Let’s learn, together, how to rebirth.
I’ll let you into secret places,
Sow you in my womb;

Broken lips, I’ll smile for you, Love
Eventually, you’ll relearn
All it is we learned
Years and years ago.

This is brilliant. Original and flows together like honey and butter and salt.. (I like to cook). Tells of a woman (much like myself) that only wants to be seen; understood and made worthy. I really love the imagery, "Sow you in my womb" specifically is excellent. Way to go.
