suddenly laying down their swords

This is fantastic!
If I knew the poet personally, it would seem as this haiku-like beauty of wisdom
is a whisper at personal imagery through imagination, taken to the essence of nature with eyes that not just see the atmosphere;
that's not what this poem is about.
Letting down one's guard (swords)
to raise young (birds)
(children)
...I wonder, then, what the poet could see while for so long,
in such a beautiful dream
(awakened)
{he}
was thinking,
in that tree?
This poem is the miracle of new wings,
and the wings of a new miracle,
never new,
always there.
