about the sidewalks

about the sidewalks

A Poem by Katherine Martin

apart from freeze

sky scrapers

that give rise to suicides and crooked spines

i find

a brief resperation amoung trees
faintly grasping the ice of a
season spent in frozen wonder
the tips of my fingers graze melting snow
my lungs are full

and the water springs down a muddy slope
i was missing winter

removed from the pearl visage of her gown

instead under the profane skirt of a public center

i walked about the sidewalks screaming

dance

bodies secret knowlege released

the roots raised

as memories through brain glue

my feet from under me hooked over my head

and with all presency
fought to be found in motion
where activity is flowed and universes found
all for the people
dizzy abound
take me for crazy
but tell I you, the urchans have told me of dirt,
the angels instructed me through hurt
fly..
fly...
was always the outcome

by answer or advice
fly..
fly...
on a bicycle, two wheel, one wheel
off of a presipice, up the wall and into the clouds
fly...

fly...

a kite

on the fringe of a sandy threshold

a hard head full o' thunder

holding crumbs
wake me up

a stale bread is for breakfast
