Searching on the Midnight StreetsA Poem by katiieWho is that person that keeps following her in the shadowed rain? She does not know why it follows, and reappears, for she never thought it was herself. It manipulates her mind with every sudden breath, she longs for her savior, that he will carry her.
She keeps walking, waiting, thinking and taking everything. She feels as though she stands, stands upon a rock, though it is not solid, there are many cracks along the way. Everything is being thrown at it even the smallest stones, and parts of the rock start to crumble away for she can't catch the pieces. These streets are dark and lonely without souls, but the voices of the people scream at her.
There are lights in glass cages, being trapped but guiding her, with ivy wrapped around them they stand proud, for she does not. She is searching for the one thing she can not reach, this is the only thing she knows that will bring her true happiness. She walks through the streets, through the puddles, they are swallowed away with leaves and she sees something.
The rain still draining heavy with each drop on her lashes and cheek. It is faint but it seems to be there;her reflection, it stands there looking back at her, uncertain and disgusted, she turns away. © 2008 katiieReviews
