When will you see

That there is more to you

Than what you’ve shown...

More than what you’ve been told...

More than what you see...

More than what you believe...

More than what you share...

 

No one is the sum of what others say

Ignoring the person hiding within

The brick walls around your heart

Blackened and scared

From too much abuse...

Too many lies...

Too much betrayal...

Too much pain...

 

I fear for you...

Knowing only this

Is that what you will see

When you look at me?

Is that what you expect?

Is friendship doomed

Before it begins?

 

Faith I live on

Trust I hold close

Belief in you

And love of a friend

I offer freely

But all is for naught

Depending on what you see...
