Hell to PayA Story by Katie2443A brief introduction to a cold stone killer's twisted life
I hadn't done it on purpose. I had "sent a message" dozens of times before, each time making sure to shatter the collar bone by placing a single well-aimed bullet right next to the right side shoulder blade. It was an extremely effective process that had persuaded several of my boss's clients to pay up. It was almost guaranteed that the day after one of my excursions, some sleep-deprived scumbag wearing a suit and a sling around his right arm would mosey into the garage with a bulging manila envelope in hand. It was my job to accept the envelope, count the money, and send the sorry excuse for a man out the door. The whole process used to bother me- having to look at the guy I just shot a matter of hours ago. But, months and months of the work has hardened me to human suffering. "As long as I don't kill the guy...", was the phrase I would mumble to myself over and over again in the beginning. Now, the whole act was a simple four step process completed in maybe ten minutes without so much as a flinch- eye to scope, pull trigger, eye away from scope, signal to getaway driver. After almost a year of rather frequent excursions, the process came naturally and never came with any surprises.
Until this morning. The day started like every other work day. I strolled into my boss's office after receiving the code text from him- "my good friend needs a ride home." My boss is a man of extremely few words, normally only disclosing to me the location and description of my target for the day. But, this morning I got this information plus a name and description. "Name's Wayne Worthy. Owes me more money than you're even worth. Get him good, but you know the one rule." I did know the one rule. Don't kill any of the clients. Then, they can't pay, and you will. But, I never imagined that I'd screw up so badly. I hadn't done it on purpose, but I'd killed Wayne Worthy and killed my boss's chances at eleven million dollars in the process. I knew I'd have hell to pay, but I had no idea how hellish my life would become. © 2015 Katie2443Author's Note
