AirplanesA Poem by LilypadThere's no place like homeHuman have mechanical wings, Birds have natural wings Birds leave whenever they choose, but instead resort to the same abode Humans itch to fly far from home to explore what has never been shown Humans hate birds for their liberty to spread their wings and leave behind the known Humans travel the globe and hate going home to continue the same old score Birds go as they please, yet never truly leave, only to return in due time Saving pennies and dreams to fly afar the places from before The fear of the unknown excites the redundancy of our tired souls Home is always the same, never new, always dull, says the aged mother, resident since birth Humans grow wearing knowing we sit on the same bench, go to the same spot, and talk to the same faces Humans patronize each other for living the same story so we sell a new story far away Only to return to the same bench, the same spot, and the same faces How are we any different from birds? Birds can choose to leave, but wisely never stray farther than what they naturally know Humans can choose to leave proposed to return to their established humble abodes If we stay too long, we miss home, to no avail we travel back home Humans and birds share the same concept: Don’t go too far cause you will return to what you know We are all creatures of habit, routines or patterns, call it what you wish it will all be the same Humans have mechanical wings to leave the old to then return to call it new Human, bird, mechanical, or natural Wings give us choice" an irrelevant one Regardless whether you go south or north, there is no place like home, so why go elsewhere? © 2015 LilypadAuthor's Note
