Business of EmotionsA Poem by LilypadWhat are you willing to pay for love?
If I paid you a night, would you love me till sunrise?
If I spared you a dime, would you caress me gently? If I sold you my heart, would you take it without return? What if I barter a kiss, would you charge me in full? I only want a night with you, should I pay you now or later? Why can’t you stay, is it not enough? It’s in the back pocket, will you stay some more? Once you leave I will go back to the norm Desolation, isolation, deprivation I only want your kisses, your caresses, your skin pressed against mine The things that happen in the night will never be explained during the day You laying by my side would never happen without a pay Reminders of reality creep once when you go away Please stay another night, maybe even a day, just keep me warm with your bought love I know it’s not the truth only illusions and deceptions These emotions are costly but being with you is worth every cent Being with you is better than being with no one so let me pay you like I did yesterday Spend the night with me to keep me alive for the day, until twilight comes, then I will search for you again I will find you where you always are and give you want you always want in return for what I always need Addictions never came cheap, neither did love, things will always be the same between us So lay with me again just for another night The pay is on the counter, in its usual spot Whisper that you love me that you will never stray away, that you only love me and not the pay Tell me what I want, tell it to me gently, say that you love me, until I fade away slowly © 2015 LilypadAuthor's Note
