Blue Dragon

Blue Dragon

A Poem by Kathleen Hankinson

Fly through the soft air,

Let your sapphire eyes glare down

The ground where fires thrive.

The sky is no place

For a passerby to drown

In the spellbound clouds,

Made to serve the sun’s fire,

Turned to limit the height, the

Altitude of your flight forward.

Shrouded in your sound,

Face that idle thundercloud,

The one that won’t bow.

He rains on the ground of fire,

Pours to wash away hope,

Wash away resolve for yourself.

He desires your fire

Your admired empire,

The power of freedom.
