Ocean Dance

Ocean Dance

A Poem by Vanessa Whiteley

In the midst of coral ballrooms,

small fish line dance

in flawless synchronisation

as crabs dance the tango

in nippy sidestep,

dramatic as Valentino,

their softer selves

concealed beneath the shell.

And up above, belles,

tentacles unfolded, attuned

to turning tides, jellyfish

waltz fluid amid the waves.

This is amazing!

However, I would like to know, is the personification? I've been studying personification and I still have no idea what it really is.
I THINK this is personification, but I'm not sure.

hmm this is the music of the universe, how great that you were able to hear it and made us to hear, too.
Loved this!!

well they would do the nippy sidestep...after all...

I don't often use the word often but here it is... darling...as in a darling piece of writing. As in pretty and charming.

This poem acted at a metaphor for me. I saw things of human condition here.

Beautiful imagery of the world within a world. Your use of dance styles to simulate the typical movements was wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

This is lovely. I was hooked from line 1, the coral ballrooms, love the nippy crab and well the whole poem is just delightful, I can see the whole scene in my mind's eye, elegant and fun. Almost wanted to break into "I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden in the shade"
Nice to see you back.

I like. Due to a lil buddy of mine, I see 'Finding Nemo' over and over, in fact I saw the stage play at Disney in Florida about a month ago. Your writing is as vivid as any imagery I've seen.
