Detours

Detours

A Poem by k.m.b.

Lord, I pray to you with an open heart

I no longer want to hide from you
I only wish to let you in
To give you willingly everything I am

You have brought me to my knees
My face pressed to the ground before you

Tears are in my eyes
Praises are in my throat
Blood is on my hands

I have done so much wrong

I have wandered off this path you had cleared for me
Into some unknown forest
Where all I have encountered is pain
And artificial happiness that is gone as quick as it came
Leaving me empty, and hopeless

I have stumbled back to you
With confusion in my heart and scars on my soul

Take me into those loving arms
And never let me go

Keep me here in your never failing love

Fill my heart with the joy I find in you
Stitch up the wounds on my soul and make me brand new
My whole being longs to be with you

But it is only a matter of time before something off this path
Catches my human eye
And I go wandering again

You are always there to bring me back

I do not deserve it
You are far to good
To a fool like me
