The words that will raise my children

The words that will raise my children

A Poem by k.m.b.

i. You are a created being. You did not just show up on this earth by chance. You have a purpose and a plan laid out for you. You have a great and loving creator who sent you to me, and it is up to you to decide who that is.

ii. You are entitled to your own opinion. I will never judge or ridicule your beliefs, but that respect is a two way street.

iii. You can tell me anything. I mean it, anything and everything. I want to be able to have a fantastic relationship with you, and that requires lots and lots of communication. I am your mother, and I have your best interests in mind. No matter what you’re going through, what the problem is, whatever it is, I will be there to support you.

iv. Walk away from anything that does not serve purpose in your life anymore. If it does not make you heart sing, if it does not start a fire in your soul, if it makes you feel anything less than happy, leave it behind. This has been such a hard lesson for me to learn, and I would hate to see you go through the same thing. It will only hurt you in the end. Please remember it is okay to let go.

v. Eat whatever the hell you want. It is good to eat your fruits, vegetables, and get all the good stuff your body needs. But trust me; the French fries won’t kill you.

vi. Never settle. Never ever settle. When it comes to anything, never settle for less than you deserve. You deserve the world, go out and get it.

I found myself nodding my head through every line of this and I chuckled at the part about french fries (I love them!). I admire your wisdom and I'm sure your kids will live truly fulfilled lives.
