Starry Host

Starry Host

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Ponderings of life, of hope.

"

Starry Host

Through highest heaven, night is held a bowl of light.

Sweet orb lantern rises in a blazing palette of stars.

Shy? But no, they meet my eyes in perfect time’s flight.

No apology, standing witness, my vision meets heavenly tiers.

This soul is vulnerably exposed by beauteous firmament.

Mortal, this inner light will burn out in days and tears.

Time races, forward, measure by measure, passed to present.

Then as now from arrested attention still new with years.

Jealous of the heavens within humanity I sometime regret

Flee modernity into the gift of Starry host’s glorious jewels.

When my heart has been dull each glory twinkles a new event.

Flee a place of heaviness to a place of child’s wonderment.

Reminding with clues, God’s own to infuse

 -Breathe deep, late night air.
