soul response to night inspiration- beauty

Mercy Within Without

Kathy Van Kurin

It is a lifting of spirit, every bank of slightest breath leading into glowing amber twilight extended.

While slightest deep shadows barely realized are now coalesced within afternoon brightness.

It is lake’s glass surface twinkling with glory, Unmitigated patience inhales to exhale pulsing life.

Sunny winds touch and twirl, teasing every back lit leaf into undulating prisms as if green glass glowing.

Come mercy’s winds. I feel your coolness rousing in every leaf and twig rustling their message.

It is Song birds round, calling and repeat, a response of silver voiced ring, meeting to begin again.

Twilight arrives in gentleness and slowly, slowly absorbs and is absorbed by early night’s presence.

Mercy is in every revolution to completion: Twirling its life force, a gift given, seen, embraced.

Seconds glimmer into minutes, into hours. Waters of memories accumulate, swirling life’s well.

Come mercy’s winds. I feel your coolness rousing. Then the stillness of peace lies cozy all around.

A great gentle rustling of leaves through cottonwood marsh brings humble tears of beauty to my vision.

The message reveals itself to my ears and mercy’s winds swirl in witness of grace against my soul.

Our hearts beat. We cry and smile and toil in mercy.

Long golden fingers of late afternoon reach for evening.  An amber cast shade of night is lowered.

Slowly many pinpricks of woven stars glitter and shine through above ebony blanket.

Layer upon Layer of heaven

Pulsing lights come forth one by one as if a field of signal fires within a warrior host’s encampment.

Mercy rides the skies full of twinkling constellations of timeless creatures and legends through the ages now revealed to my eyes

As time flies by in mercy.

How softly each line is lifted by the previous one. You've shared the blessings of nature in a way that is rare to come across. Also, I love the way, the word 'mercy' appears at intervals throughout the poem. Kathy, I wish one day I will hold a book of your poems in my hands. They deserve a home as I do not rely on electronic page. I'm the lover of old ways, especially the paperback or hardcover formats of poem books.

There is a gentleness here that one rarely stumbles upon by chance or feels outside of very sacred or other special places .. it is near impossible to describe in mere words, but I am sure most visitors will understand what I am trying to convey .. I think maybe it has much to do with nature, spirituality and being in harmony within ourselves and external environments .. Whatever the case maybe, I found it here and thank you for it Kathy ..

Peace and All Good Thing,

You are welcome muchly Kathy.
I enjoyed everything you scribed, word by word! You have a gentle touch in which every line flows gently into the next….just as everything about nature seems to fit into a neat puzzle….i was truly inspired by the cool winds, then settling upon the cottonwood marsh ( just arrive back from the low country where the marshes glisten at high noon, then turn a dark purple hue as the sun’s tire entices us to behold a stunning sky……I really should say all of your truly magnificent nature songs inspires me
Warmly, B
