A Rye MomentA Poem by Kathy Van KurinAs much fun making the sandwich as eating it?A rye
moment Give me
rye bread, lettuce, cucumber and onion. Nutrients fortify; I can’t wait to munch on
lunch. Give me
pastrami, spicy horseradish and cheddar. Piled and
layered ingredients in perfect union Sandwich
treat, I treasure each bite, each crunch. Outer
bread slices, the perfect fresh grain sweater. Hold my
sandwich together, just perfect luncheon. I’ve
contrived a delicious creation at my work bench. Oh I
cannot forget beautiful strips of Green pepper. May I
allow myself this delicious special occasion? -Monster
sandwich forthcoming, nutritional bunch. Out my
window pane gazing, ‘Can it get any better? Blessed
with choices; no hunger here. Rich
option. It’s
morning at ten so this is a scrunch to brunch. -A
culinary delight, Delectable dining, to the letter. © 2022 Kathy Van KurinAuthor's Note
