Sun Prizms

Sun Prizms

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Morning after returning home from vacation.

Sun Prizms

Lord thank you for this morning.

Window Sun prisms flow through fir trees to my floor.

Outside beauty pulls at me and is brought to the inner room of this heart.

Light barely awake it has begun this day. I rise from my chair.

Awake a bit early, walking slowly down hallway to kitchen.

Beauty unexpected jolts me to attention.

It is a stretching sharp lance of golden sun now calling my name.

Bright shining upon wood plank floor but no cutting of skin

Toes are safe as I amble through early golden edged pattern of loveliness.

My eyes drawn to its light, mid stride a single foot fall held in place then pause.

This my morning’s saunter with a nice hot mug of creamy sweet coffee in hand.

Its comfort seems to echo the welcoming of the bright sun diamond.

Arrival, yes back to my desk with window venetian blinds pulled up.

These eyes look out to new day.

The sun is now creeping along languidly, fully across my tall garden fence.

In the forefront, leading the way; tall yellow dahlias herald in communion.

The creamy peach and bright red of its fellows all in a row

join in

Now the same hall wall at my back is like a projector screen.

Through study door it receives lengthening shimmer.

It contrasts a weaving, a climbing of flower’s vine in silken

 silhouette.

There is nothing for it but to stare, to admire.

Now is the time to consider, in this journey of morning imagination, pondering.

I am home.

"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy." John Denver

They say home is where the heart is but I am just a pilgrim and an orphan on this earth, bound for home and longing for the love of my Father's embrace. I am the prodigal son who wasted his time and efforts in pursuit of things which left me wanting. I will return, broken and destitute to that home I long for. Until then, I travel the road in the direction (as best I can) that leads me towards that only enduring hope. Bless. F.

Rest and relaxation after a trip is much needed coupled with missing all the things we hold dear. I can tell you had a wonderful vacation and that you live in a magical place. I know you are grateful for all. We praise Him for all the wondrous things He created. Beautiful imagery all included.

You got lit by the light imagine the light and so bright as Paul faced which blinded him only to allow him to see the true light of Jesus Christ. Light truly reveals things. I bet you appreciate the beauty & comfort of your home, whether you've just returned or not! You paint a rich tapestry of what it means when a mere dwelling has been imbued with the depth of being considered "home". Your poem is enthusiastic enuf to make us want to appreciate our habitat in such a lively way, day in & day out! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Aw kathy, you mentioned that word, vacation.
Something the Brits haven't managed this year. The sun seems a distant star now, staycations now the norm.
I'm glad you told us about yours though, it gives us hope for the future. Today I'll be watching the football with no fans in the stadium, strange times indeed. 2021 is the aim for a holiday now that a vaccine has been found. Hopefully good times ahead. Hope you're well, Kathy, be good.
