September Sighs

September Sighs

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Sighs of September in a heart inside out.

"

September Sighs.

September sighs of warm soft winds still tame, still calm wandering through oak tree canopy calliopes.

Thimbles of Sprinkles have begun falling through green lace leaves not yet crimson.

Tree bouquets barely traced by autumn fingers soon to hold touches of sunrise to sunset memories.

Crescents of wind enter my space. Swirling leaves whirligig across the ground in surging surprise.

Bright spotted towhee bids an early adieu to mocking Jay whom scolds and cries his own goodbye.

No more standing in fields of cane berries plucking fragrant fruit

But Happy Reminiscences of sunshine Harvests now complete.

Arrested attention, single dry scrub leaf falls to the ground in slow motion.

While distant tangerine leafed maple tree flickers her solo vibrancy throughout

surrounding emerald woods. My eyes receive the message.

Quick as a heartbeat, Good Bye dear little caramel striped pine chipmunk.

I already miss your rare and precocious visits.

Coming cooler days will soon house tiny creature’s hibernation within this outdoor habitation.

Every inhale of contentment held within is followed by every exhale of what will be within God’s Blessed All Knowing..

For we await beauteous Change of season within coming autumn’s ballet.

Well, Kathy 🍂

It is for certain you've woken my sleeping heart and soul with this gorgeously blessed composition of colorfully dancing imagery, blended with imaginative metaphor and syntactical flow, the likes few possess inner-passion and wherewithal enough to gift such vibrant breath a'flow across the page ⁓ to lift and fill our amazed eyes and imaginations with such a vibrant portrait to Autumn's enchanting glory.

A perfect title and photo grace us, too, by virtue of your immaculate tastes in the nuances of irresistibly spellbound ambiance; then, spotted here and there, subtle rhymes tease and please the most discerning reader's palate:
"September sighs of warm soft winds still tame, still calm,
wandering through oak tree canopy calliopes.
Thimbles of Sprinkles have begun falling through green lace leaves,
not yet crimson."

And, there's more magic within EVERY line … whose poetic voice speaks like this? No one I know of, but You … I became increasingly enamored while perusing every word and line, Kathy … stellar!💫
Thank you ever-so warmly and gratefully for sharing You with Us … hugs! ⁓ Richard 🍁

I so taken with this one, I'm going to message a few ideas your way, and if you detest them, just kick me to the curb.🤨

Here in hot dry California where we get very little weather, I rarely feel September . . . but you've definitely given me a huge palpable dose of it! This is the most dynamic nature writing ever, the way you use lively verbs & fresh original language, your observations dance off the page. You pick unusual words to appeal to all the senses, which I love to see in a poem. Your poem has it ALL! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I always enjoy your work dear Kathy and you are welcome.
This was such a beautiful poem! The way you describe things is flawless and just so gorgeous and inspiring. I always used to find September a very boring month when I was younger, but now I love it. The weathers changing and so is everything else and new things are coming. Winter and fall are seen as depressing too often, I think. I loved this poem, it was wonderful.

I'm sighing already by the beauty of this poem. Wonderful lines abound here and there transporting the reader into the change and the nostalgia. I like all seasons in general but most preferably early Fall and Spring. Eyes receiving the message is a powerful statement. Glad I stopped by.
