Seek Glory

Seek Glory

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Do we forgive and seek good? Do we look inside our hearts and ask God, 'What can I do to make this world a better place? Am I part of healing?

"

Seek glory

Looking for the glory, finding beautiful colors.

Oh, that our hearts would remain exceptional.

Growth comes from soil of life lying open.

World cries for beauty finding good in others

No stony heart but a soul malleable

Lend an ear, caring given.

Can we paint glitter across our culture?

Pray that we do not grow incorrigible.

Stay open to life jewels of inspiration?

Sunshine warmth cuddles into love’s feathers.

Then we can accept the gift invincible.

Is love the act extended, a wrong forgiven?

Of others, of this world, are we Lovers?

Let us bend as those sculpted of clay, Pliable

To find mirroring here among us as in heaven.

There are two types of people in this world; the creators and the destroyers. The creators are artists, writers, sculptors, builders, teachers, philosophers and poets with vision and beauty in their hearts and minds. The destroyers are children of darkness, ignorance and hatred intent on destroying what they cannot understand or create; seeking out every opportunity to undermine the creative, educational and beautiful in our world. They are murderers, rapists, thieves and monsters, raging about, seeking whom they might destroy. When I think of God, I automatically first think of The Creator and when I read in scripture that mankind was created in the image of God, I think first, of man's ability to create. No other animal has such wonderful power to bring forth beauty as that of the human being. But if God is the Creator there can be no doubt as to the father of the destroyer; his evil hoof prints mark and mar the history of mankind. I enjoyed this lovely poem. You are obviously a daughter of the Light. Bless, F.

More glitter. And more poetry that lifts like this. My ink gets dark and gooey and scratchy but when the words are illuminated the way that you do, that’s life giving. This poem is a beautiful reminder of how we should be

Strong and hopeful words shared dear Kathy. I liked the questions asked.

I believe we can't change the world but we can change our world. Be the example of kind words, safe place and where love lived. I enjoyed the amazing poem my friend.

I loved this poem and you are welcome Kathy.
Wow a wonderful positive inspiring all to love and kindness to all. I like and admire how you emphasise and advise the soft malleable nature of our hearts that we harden artificially with hate and coldness. I esp from me it remarkable that you write that we should mirror heavens merciful ways. I think you inspired a new poem in me. Take care. Kudos!!

Plz pleez do read and comment my newest poem too, it's the top most one on my page.

What powerful words! I hope they penetrate all who read them. There is a call in the wind. It is quiet but loud asking, no pleading for ears to hear it. Love, peace, unity, goodness, rise above, stand tall don’t act small...is it being heard? I am heartbroken to experience even for myself with friends I have had for years too being infected by some kind of hate virus. When did it become about being right? Being better? About getting what we deserve...ie where is my share? The blame and the hate, the anger and the animosity is it winning the arm wrestling battle? I pray not.

You too Miss Tabby! You are a special and kind soul.
I so love the powerful introduction of your poem... am I asking God if I am a part of the healing.. am I asking what can I do to make the world better? And then your poem awakens the wonder of the world we should be creating. Wondrous!

All wonderful advice and a nicely penned reminder of the need to seek the beauty that's around us and be ever present and open to its presence:) to live in grace is to know the starkness of the difference how easy it is to slip away especially in these trying times

This is a spot-on call to righteousness in all the spiritual ways, not so much the judgmental ones. I've noticed more & more are making such calls, but yours is done superbly unique. For one thing, I love how you combine simple everyday expressions ("beautiful colors" . . . "finding good" . . . "warmth cuddles") with more complex & abstract thoughts ("remain exceptional" . . . "soul malleable" . . . "gift invincible"). These contrasts serve to wake the reader up becuz there's nothing predictable here & every concept demands a fresh look. The other thing I really really like is that this doesn't have that condescending sound like (what I find to be annoying) -- badly-worded calls to pray as if nobody is out there already praying their asses off, given the dismal way things are in the world! We need more of this kind of spiritual freshness in a wake-up call (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
