Night Time Journeys

Night Time Journeys

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Life lived in dreams while our heads caress our pillows and we are cloaked in blankets and night darkness. Will we carry our dreams into day light?

"

Night time journeys

 Within night vision flight

Dreams are such a fascinating place.

Oh the tenderness and light!

For in our journeys of sleep

 Who will we meet?

We never know where we will go.

Lost times somehow made right

To come upon lost ones

May we all find rest for our feet.

Hearts are given a place to flow.

Past moments coalesce aright.

Dark to shadow mysterious face

Hope’s solution carries the kite.

Life color in shadow

Spirited to the heights.

My dreams are somewhat frustrating. Either they are nonsensical, or are lost within ten minutes after arising in the AM. My wife, on the other hand, enjoys productions that would make Cecil B. DeMille envious. I think she may be smoking something behind my back.

sometimes, especially now that i am older my dreams bring back long forgotten memories of people which stay with me on awakening and i have the pleasure of dwelling on the past i would never have recalled without dreams searching them out for me...

I love the questioning & seeking aspect of your poem, which shows the exploration you describe. Great flowing rhyming lyrical essence to your dream pondering, almost as if meant to lull us off to dreamland with promises of subtle adventures. I used to dream vividly & remember most, but then I haven't dreamt for many years, being wracked by pain & not getting down to restful REM, I guess. I miss the world you describe, in sleep, but I also believe it can be a part of our waking consciousness (especially me, living here in the quiet wilderness where the world's chaos can be kept at bay! Some of my daydreams look like this!) Love reading this poem & imagining it! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Kathy this is a lovely poem. Those night flights take us to so many places. Some back in the past take us to childhood, to people and places long gone. Those are the best in my opinion. They can start my day off with a smile. Then there are others where I find myself out of place in no man's land, those are the ones that can leave me feeling apprehensive and on occasions frightened. Most of the time my night flights are happy ones. Every now and then a wobbler is thrown into the mix. Thank you for this delightful read.

what a fantastic poem you have left here Kathy.. it reads much like a treatise on the subject... and is almost dreamlike in its own write....

My own dreams tend to vary these days... they can be in colour or black and white.. some are about the past and some dont seem to fit anywhere in time.. I think I like the ones about the past most of all....

Stay safe my friend …. Neville :)

I rarely dream, or if I do I don not remember them, maybe that's a good thing, I don't know. The dreams I remember from when I was young are mostly ones I wish I could forget, but some of them seem as real today as they seemed all those years ago.

Thank you for all your reviews in the past. I kind of quit writing and bow it only comes in spurts.

Kathy I slept in a top bunk with my twin brother underneath me one night while asleep I actually rolled out of bed while doing so I had a dream that I was standing on a cliff with waves of the ocean beating against large jagged rocks and I fell I felt the wind against me this was very vivid real and as I approached the rocks panic was in me the next thing I knew was that I had hit the floor and man did I hurt they woke up my mom and dad on the first floor level of their house completely on the other side but I never saw myself hit the rocks I have heard if you do you can die I just thought I'd relate this thank you for your wonderful poem opening man's mind and heart

Very nicely expressed Kathy. It's true that dreams are fascinating and often seem just beyond our grasp. I think the mood is the main thing rather than specifics. I would think our present circumstances are reflecting our dreams greatly. Hope you are hanging in.
Take care.

This poem has a dream-like quality to it that supports the title quite well.
I have always been a dreamer ... asleep & awake. Lately though my dreams have been shorter but no less vivid. The theme is always the same ... old houses ... driving and water.
There may be something to them. ;>}
I like this Kathy ... well done.
Take care ... stay safe.
