The Season Whispers

The Season Whispers

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Autumn is like a special time of rejoicing in the subtle.

"

The Season Whispers

Evergreens Herald

 Twilight rays relinquished.

Tawny crowned monarchs

 Stand majestic.

Enthroned Kings

Glow gold silken wash.

Scepter gives its signal

Autumn strolls away.

Maple leaves release

, dance to the ground.

They rustle to November

‘We await you.’

She will arrive

 Whispering to December.

Bare tree beauties,

 Cloaked in winter.

"Rejoicing in the subtle" . . . that's beautiful! We don't get a major show of autumn in California, so I tend to be more tuned in to the way the air feels . . . usually very dry, but when it becomes damp, you know it's autumn. Dampness in the air (even when it's perfectly sunny) piques the aromas that come from the chaparrel, especially a dry flower that wafts like maple syrup scent, filling my nostrils the first time I open the door every morning. See how your subtlety sparked me? I love "autumn strolls away" . . . & the way your poem depicts the passage of time from fall to winter (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Autumn.my favorite.. is a glorious time o f the year for me ..although nature may be closing summers door to warmth and leaves flowing to the ground to die and wither away..I feel an awakening within my spirit a renewal of sorts..perhaps that sounds backward or odd..but that's how it feels to me..love your lovely verse here dear kathy

A beautiful array of colors limned, Kathy Van Kurin. It read like a poem wonderfully blended with a song that told a lovely tale of nature. Wonderfully explained and expressed! Tyfs!!!
