Transparent

Transparent

A Story by Kathy Van Kurin
"

Memory of childhood. It's interesting how an experience can filter into the present.

"

Transparent

Deep, clear, silent with no distractions: This high mountain lake, of my distant childhood memory. Beyond my world, looking down into cold, clear depths, this boat of my youth, as my father rowed along its water’s glass like surface.

Within the present I go deep within my soul, transparent and still but hidden in depths mysterious. Earth’s human occupants; within our souls is where transparent reality lies. We live in layers though unseen by others within our souls. We are aware of our own inner life and at the same time clothed with a protective outer body garment. This beauty of our humanity waits, revealing inner loveliness, like a delicious picnic satchel, contents unseen. Until its life sustaining parts are revealed and offered to another it is nothing.

So is our person, our being, as we share and unpack ourselves. Value becomes apparent. We are like that. It is easy to hide.  Nothing is gained or lost in hiding. Skimming the surface of one another is safe, safe and dull. So, do we submit to one another‘s viewing and resulting edification of lessons earned, sometimes easily sometimes not?

We are alive; alive to try, struggle, and maybe even at times grunt our way through the deep things of life together. Layer upon layer, within us; to sacrifice, be transparent. Open the door of our time; listen, care and respond- troubleshoot together. Because, then, in all of the struggles and beauty of life we are not alone.  Kathy Van Kurin, 2016

these words are a real delight to meander through and explore.. I have considered them twice already.. the first time at my normal reading pace, and then more slowly and breathing them and taking them in more deeply..

I really like the way together they fit the page, not sure whether that is due to formatting or some higher writing skill than I myself possess. The message that you weave throughout though a simple one is quite beautiful and should I hope have universal appeal.... Bless you Kathy...And here's wishing you Peace Love & All Good Things, Neville

My dear friend and mentor, Dr. Dan Ballard, used to say, "What good are we if we can't help one another along the way?" I enjoyed this, Kathy. Well done, my poetic friend.

Regardless of our beliefs Kathy, there is lots of universal wisdom in your well considered piece. It's good that you haven't pushed a particular view that might switch off many. We certainly have depths and I belief that most of us are better than we think.
It's a pleasure to read something so positive.
All the best.

Transparency is honesty unpacking the truth layer by layer to reveal the beauty of self purification and oneness with all things. You message is a guide, a journey to the self and an embrace of shared humanity. Our interactions are a must to gain insights and our connections are a trust to forfeit ignorance. Very soothing and well articulated.

Much obliged. Might be. You never know. Always welcome Kathy.
WOW! WOW! And WOW! This is an amazing description of how transforming it can be to have some regular practice where one gets straight with oneself & possibly Great Spirit for those who go there. This is a beautiful description of self-care. I would wager to say most people do not do this until later in life, if at all. Since I did alot of backpacking in my younger days, that's where I first began to thrive on this feeling (intermittent). But it wasn't until the last 10 years living alone & disabled in the wilderness, that I really got in touch with this process you describe (full-time). It's transforming! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

First of all, you've done beautifully with your imagery. I was inside the scenes you limned. I also enjoyed your manner of writing about what means so much to you, the depth of emotion really shows and gives the reader a powerful feeling of how you must feel. I also liked the value and moral of the story, which so many stories today lack. As I said, you convey so much to the reader and it makes reading it so enjoyable. Tyfs!!!

how true how true ...transparency with one's self and then with others is a strengthening and a freeing ... trouble is for those who pursue the inner self and revealing it .. is that it is hard to find someone who will hold that "self" gently with an attitude of letting go themselves ... your musings reminds me of Kahlil Gibran and his writings ;) deep stuff for me so early in the morning .... and a positive place for me to bid adieu to the Cafe' for the day ... top o' the mahrnin' to ya Kathy!!

:) ....................
this reminds me of my dad and different adventures he and i shared...i savored those times...even though back then i didn't exactly act like i wanted to do those things until we were actually doing them...
i have such good memories of him....fishing, miniature golf, bowling...eating BLT's and Fried Chicken at this little restaurant in Kentucky...such good memories....this brought that back.
I stopped at certain moments...and can still bring them up almost with a photographic memory.
thanks for this, Kathy,
j.
