Invincible Simplicity

What is strength? Is it within passing gifts which are given no fanfare?

Expansive extravagance of the day by day; life lessons offered freely?

Is it within the reality of our eyes being vulnerably open?

For it is with the eyes we see but it is with the heart we know.

Experience, this is where the power of cause and effect live.

How does one handle pain? Does one try to ignore it?

How does one handle success? Bask in it?

Can we outrun our very lives?

Learn to learn; Let us function from experiences.

Let us bend in life storms of rain and blasting hail.

It too will pass. These are simple words.

I for one don’t mind a reminder.

Can I   Simply accept, simply cry and move on?

Simply live.

“Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.” Grandma Moses.
I guess this still holds true. We may not be captains of our fate, but we steer the ship...and it's how we use the rudder and how we take the waves that make us who we are.
Experience is the best teacher...the only one we really listen too.

Hey Kathy, It would take me several pages to respond to these questions but i'm just gonna answer one of them cause it hit me the most... Strength to me is owning, Knowing, accepting who we are. Changing (that which we find that we owned) was hurting us and having the courage to do so. Lastly having the courage to stand behind our self no matter if others disagree so if I could condense this a bit I would say to be brutally true and honest with ourselves and equally to others completely that to me is strength. I have more respect for the person in the crowd that disagrees and stands up than a thousand head nodders! That's just the bunny's opinion

a call to arms! .......of simplicity :) well ... i agree for one .... two: it seems you abandoned poetic for the importance of the theme .. except for line ten ... i would have liked more :( your oem covers a lot of philosophical ground, Kathy ... this line " Can we outrun our very lives?" particularly hooks me ... i want to sit on it for a while and think about how it may apply to me own life ;) ... i certainly get a sense of spinning me wheels in a material pursuit of one sort or another ..something as a young husband and father i confess to being guilty of ... the cares of day to day living and our very complex world can be overwhelming .... your closing 2 lines are pearls of great price ..won in the pain, suffering and persevering of life ... you started me noodle working this morning Kathy ... good thing i am on my second cup of coffee

I love your simple thoughts on simplicity. I am a big fan of simplicity. We tend to complicate our lives more than we realize & it can take years of practice to live simply instead. I love the items you choose to include in your life questioning & exploration, all thought-provoking & relatable. I love how your questioning serves as a reminder & we can all use a reminder, huh? Guess we all have our ways of dealing with actions, thoughts and all. Depends on what's passed, in hand, about to happen. Having a laugh in life, sharing pleasure, making joy out of disappointment is great.. BUT can also become a challenge that's almost too much to deal with. That's when a smile or hug or resolved empathy received sets the ticking heart on a steady beat. Maybe giving empathy and appropriately shared smiles make troubles less. You've left academic questions for readers to considere, Kathy. Plus, the heart as well as mind takes over here and there, it's often the core of.. thought. Yes?

Perhaps looking harder and closer at simple things is best. not waiting and waiting for what we're not destined to have because of greed, stupidity.. whatever. Perhaps. Life is the old chestnut.. 'what we make it' - just not always easy to remember a great many will say! Pontificating comes easily to many, shrugging patiently takes patience and - whatever whatever is! xx

I particularly like poems that ask questions . . . yours is filled with them . . . and important ones indeed.
To me, "invincible simplicity" Is letting go and letting God have his way with us . . . He will supply all the grace we need. Wonderful poem.
