Bird Song Melody

Bird Song Melody

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

                                   Bird Song Melody

Oh, let us enter full Orchestra’s movement:

Lord God the Great Conductor and composer.

Let creation rise and rejoice in ceremony.

Our great creator you make all things new.

Vitality rings anew, swelling earth.

She awaits expectant, with arms outstretched to coming life.

Her song sings of creatures, trees and plants in a buzz of new frenzied growth.

High canopy’s Rhapsody assays into air’s dome from chickadee section.

Wren’s call is received and echoed by Robin’s accompanying flute like trill.

Precious pond community shares in approaching new life song.

Kettle Drum section; the swelling spring earth relays it’s now heralding thrum.

As if closing notes of an oboe; crows give signal in their own mischievous tones.

Here comes the bold white goose!

In his train, the Mallard section rides his wake amidst garlands of rippling sun lit reflection.

The gray heron and snowy egret simply observe as appreciative audience.

-Remaining still in the beauty of this offering of spring’s bird song melody.

Shared loveliness with nature's musicians and charming creatures. The sun gave light and color. Quietness and solitude spoke to my soul.

What a truly beautiful and creative work. Comparing the coming of spring as an avian orchestral explosion goes a long way to warming this natural heart of mine. Your use of imagery was great, vocabulary spot on. I also like the line length and think if it was shorter it would have made the poem feel stunted. Were you listening to anything in particular while writing this besides the birds? Great work. CD

I love your tapestries that weave together your spiritual point of view with your love of nature. My own melody of worship jingles along with similar notes, since I thrill to the morning sounds in my wilderness enclave! Then I love the way your spiritual melody transforms further into a patchwork quilt of orchestra & feathered friends. All the things that make me smile! All the reasons I embrace Easter this weekend! And a happy one for you, too! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The Avian orchestra in full cry here.......

For those lucky enough to hear this choral combination, I am sure it is something to swell the heart with hope first thing in the morning.
I like the idea of placing these different birds into their own orchestral sections...quite clever.

Nicely conceived, Kathy.

I’ve always wanted to read a poem that captured the music of nature. The visual is often explored but the beautiful sounds are equally important. This is not only a clever idea but you executed it perfectly Kathy. Very creative and breathtaking. Time for me to reread
