Dripping Diamonds

Dripping Diamonds

A Poem by Kathy Van Kurin

Dripping diamonds

Oh the bliss, of a campfire late at night!

Warm, welcoming; the flames glow, orange and lovely.

Dear husband built the fire, my soul basks

 amidst love’s warm light.

Our love matches ebony- night- reality.

Late and later, comes the moon, reflecting

 orb fire bright.

All around the forest glows as if cast in molten glass.

Late night trees, now drenched,

 in dripping diamonds of moonlight!

Every leaf, branch and twig of Douglas Fir Grove

Simply bestows, Luminescent Moon’s power.

It pierces through each leaf like a living lens

 capturing the magic.

Late and later; all becomes hushed.  So still!

To bask in silver bright shining is my privilege.

Dear Husband Timothy off to sleep.

This night my heart is comforted.

I rejoice in this precious time of solitude.  Such peace!

My soul inhales quiet, sweet stillness.

Last glowing embers remain and still reveal beauty.

Happy I am to sleepily sit in my place

 of sweetness and light.

Thank you Lord.

For your precious moon does rule the night.

Your beautiful words let me hear the crackle, feel the warmth and smell the woodsmoke of the campfire. Trees "drenched in dripping diamonds of moonlight"- lovely alliteration and imagery...such precious moments in time with your husband shared. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!

This poem is packed with imagery and sensational writing. I could feel the comforting flames and hear the gently crackling fire in the beginning. And the description of the picturesque night is beautifully done. I like the image of "dripping diamonds" in the night sky.

it sounds special, you paint lovely images
That is beautiful. The imagery, the feeling and the story of life. Everything read was limned beautifully, wonderfully. I loved the lines,

"Late night trees, now drenched in dripping diamonds of moonlight!"

"For your precious moon rules the night."

The whole poem was a pleasure to read, but these lines stood out a lot. Tyfs!!!

All true. You are magically welcome.
You painted a very vivid picture with your words. I wished I was there myself! Sometimes the night, especially if the moon is shining, can be a lovely place of 'sweet stillness'. Nicely done.

A lovely title for a poem and well attributed to the flow of moonlight cast upon a hushed serenity.

As always, your poem is written with a sense of wonder and joy for the simple phenomena we take for granted in life; the sounds and sights of flame and moonlight in the dark of the woods. To write like this, one needs to be attuned to one's surroundings, and your words illustrate your ability to do just that.

The woods at night, bathing in the majesty of Queen Moon, must be a wonderful place to reflect on life and be fortunate for what one has around them.

Another fine write, Kathy.
