Why Should I Care?

Just as this home made fire pit is cracked from repeated cold and heat but still holds heat and welcoming light of it's blazing fire we hold our own precious lives within; our own living soul's fire.

 

Why should I care?

I care?

But I do.

 

Minutes are passing.

  I remain in this body, my living soul’s shell.

Within this human house, a lantern is burning.

 This life, my story book of feeble days- is ageing before my very eyes.

But my soul’s essence is a vibrating inner living fire.

Days within Inner vision- observing past to present,

 Streaming always onward as future becomes real.

Past memories fade, into once shining days of life, once as real as today.

 Life exists- in past, present and future, like a circular ring of memories.

Even within the pain of past regrets over poor choices- stupid mistakes:

What to do?

This shadow’s path, sometimes a mystery does not need to be permanent.

For, it is in  the trip of moments, within minutes that lessons may be gained.

 Moving, always moving; our day’s landscape transforms within process.

 

We change, we grow, we mature; even in the sometimes dark places

 of our own making.

Where are the colors?

 Even darkness holds color

But only the Son’s power

 Brings  sparkles of understanding

 And every hue’s sense of meaning.

We stand , run, climb and fall. All part of progressing and learning our limits.
Your excellent final stanza shows that even adversity can be a source of learning, but the light of optimism is necessary to discern it.
That is why we SHOULD care. otherwise we could miss it.

"That is why we SHOULD care, otherwise we could miss it." Yes! In this life we all process individually and uniquly...what can I say. Thanks too, for your opening reveiw sentence; "We stand, run, climb and fall. all part of progressing and learning our limits."
Adversity is a reality and not to be taken lightly. Where do we gain if we take it lightly? I just do not want to become bogged down in pain.

As you say above, "many hidden lessons." It is true we live on a foundation of lessons. Do we pay attention and focus? I do not always take the time and sometimes find the same mind-set or whatever being repeated.
Being a student of living well is definitly worthwhile. I also like your phrase: "colours out there without names but one needs a time slip to see them without playing games."

Such an amazingly broad swipe of your poetical brush finds most all of us painted with the hues, textures, and colors blended upon the palette of your creative mind and glimpses of conscious wisdom and keen insight.
Whom else could perceive of life's trials, tribulations, beauties, rewards, temptations, sins, and gratifications, etc; every aspect of living and learning equally valuable to our mental, emotional, and spiritual growth? Truthfully, I don't know anyone else with that open a mindset that they would "care" enough to, even be able to, delve in such detail, digging to turn any and all things into a positive learning process.

"Wisdom's words cannot be cast to wind" was a line i used in one of my poem's and it resonates strongly throughout your piece.

Life is a finite journey. It has its peaks and troughs, and we do our best to always climb it's mountains and avoid it's pitfalls. But falling is also inevitable. And it is only from the wisdom we gain from our falls that allows us to rise again and reclimb those mountains, always aiming for the peak and to grasp the sun. And that is the beauty of life and what we should always care for. It IS finite so we best make great use of it.

A lovely write, Kathy. Thoughtful, deep and wisdom for the masses. Nicely conceived.

That's how I feel more often than not these days: the "shell" is aging, but the inner fire still burns. What's the expression? The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak?
